The other day, I was paging through Google search results to find lucrative Surfshark VPN deals. I found that a lot of people are talking about Surfshark 6 months free offers. But where’s the Surfshark 6 months free offer? Does it even exist? To work out what’s really going on behind the buzz, I visited their pricing page. And voila! There it was! The buzz was real!

I compared the different Surfshark subscription plans, starting with the monthly plans. Let’s be honest, the monthly plans are not ideal for the penny pinchers.

Just in case you are curious, their basic monthly plan (Starter) is pegged at 15.45 USD per month, unless there is a special offer available. It is one of the most expensive monthly plans among all the top-tier VPNs. And it gets even pricier when you go for their more feature-rich bundles, such as the Surfshark One and Surfshark One+, with the latter having all the premium features.

But the cost dramatically comes down when you opt for their 1-year plan instead. For example, you need to pay just $47.84 for the 12-month Starter plan, and you get 4 months free with it, with no strings attached. If we do the math, you pay exactly $2.99 per month for the Starter plan when you choose to extend it to 12 months. The monthly cost jumps to $3.39/month for Surfshark One, and $5.99/month for One+, respectively.

I was a little disheartened to see that the Surfshak One+ 1-year plan comes with just 71% savings, whereas you save 81% on the other plans. Usually, you save more when you go for pricier VPN plans, as VPN companies always want to upsell and bring customers to the door with lucrative discounts on expensive plans, but let’s keep that aside for now. 

The Real Show-Stopper – Surfshark 24-Month One+ Plan

Let’s now talk about the gold mine: Surfshark 24-month plans. Here’s where Surfshark pulls out the big guns. You can grab the Starter package for just $1.99 a month, Surfshark One for $2.36 a month, or Surfshark One+ for $3.79 a month. The highest you can save on these plans is 87%.

The One+ 24-month plan, which is the hidden gem, comes with six months extra. You get billed for the first 30 months, and not 24 months, and the cost-per-month is exactly $3.99. Ideally speaking, it would have cost you $619.50 for 30 months (24 months + 6 months extra), but Surfshark has slashed it down to just $119.70 (so you save a good 81%).

Does It Really Beat the Competition?

A lot of VPN companies actually throw in free months when customers go for their longer duration plans. ExpressVPN, for example, has a similar offer, but you have to pay $149.70 for 30 months upfront, which nets you six months free for $4.99 a month. So yes, Surfshark faces a stiff competition on the cost front, but it’s longer-duration plans are totally worth it if you take into account the cost-to-feature ratio. Remember, all of its plans support unlimited simultaneous connections.
